Release Year: 1991
Notes:

  • Check out Christopher Cushman's blog for a behind-the-scenes account of the making of this poster and others, including process and close-up images.
  • This poster was initially published and offered at retail (e.g. through Starlog magazine mail order) by JDT Associates in 1991; after that company folded, this poster design was acquired and offered in a smaller size (24" x 36") by SciPubTech. SciPubTech would go on to print eight total Star Trek cutaway posters (click here for all entries for SciPubTech).
  • The second, smaller version of this poster is shown below (click to enlarge). The smaller version is mostly identical with minor differences. Most noticeably, the 24x36 version features the Star Trek: The Next Generation logo at the top left in yellow instead of dark blue, and deletes the outline around the Starfleet badge at the top left.

  • In June 2000, SciPubTech's website described this smaller poster as follows: '36"X24" CUT AWAY POSTER OF THE U.S.S. ENTERPRISE NCC-1701-D INCLUDES LITTLE KNOWN DETAILS AND 120 CALLOUTS ON THE ENGINE PROPULSION, TACTICAL DEFENSE, NAVIGATION, AND COMPUTER AND COMMAND SYSTEMS.' The poster was sold for $19.95.
  • Fine print at the bottom of the poster reads in part: "Dedicated to the late Gene Roddenberry, Creator and Executive Producer, Star Trek: The Next Generation."
  • See below an ad from Starlog magazine, date unknown, offering this poster; a signed and numbered limited edition of the same size; the smaller (24" x 36") version; and the "Space Background" edition, from JDT Associates.
  • The first edition of this poster (48" x 25.5" by JDT Associates) shipped with the following letter outlining the impressive technical details of the poster printing process (click to enlarge). "Regular Edition" in this letter differentiates this poster from the special limited edition print, signed and numbered by Cushman and printed on 110-lb Eloquence stock.
